Columbus Day Holiday Weekend

On Monday, October 10, the USA observes the holiday, Columbus Day, dedicated to the memory of Christopher Columbus and his voyages to the New World from Spain. For many Americans, this was a holiday where many falsely believed he actually "discovered" the New World. Of course, the Native American were already living here long before Columbus set sail in search of a shorter route to India. He wasn't even the first European to land here. The Vikings visited here several hundred years before Columbus was born. 

Today is a day remembering Columbus' journey that inaugurated a European exodus to these shores that almost wiped out the indigenous people. He changed the history of the world in ways he never even imagined. 

As for me, I'm using the day off from work to lounge in bed a little longer than usual. The weather outside is supposed to be nice so I'll spend time outdoors and naked. Thank you, Christopher Columbus!

October Is LGBT History Month

October of every year is LGBT History Month, a time we dedicate to exploring our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture's history, both past and present. It was first conceived by educators who realized that our culture's history was untold in the textbooks their students used. The result was that contributions of our people not only was overlooked but also mistakenly understood as nonexistent until recent years. 

It is important that we all acknowledge and appreciate all the many achievements that all of our LGBT predecessors accomplished not only in our past but are pioneering even today. All of us are threads that are woven into our national fabric. Threads that are forgotten through ignorance and fear mean that the complete fabric is only partially woven and therefore weak.

A different person is honored each day of the month, so there are 31 members of our culture honored this year. Research the site and view all of those honored in previous years. You may even nominate your selection for this same honor in 2017. 

None of us know all there is to know about our culture. Bookmark the site and visit it daily. Remember: knowledge is power.

Beautiful Backyard Buttocks!

Summer is now winding down and in just a few more weeks the autumn season will be here. Time to take a quick break from the beach/pool scene and enjoy a little bit of "chill" time in the backyard. A welcome retreat from the crowds, the tourists and other assorted characters and think about the activities and events of the Summer of 2016. A "breathing space" where I can make sure that everything I wanted this summer to be, happened. After today, that leaves me with a little over a week to try to cram any remaining objectives into reality.  

Don't waste away any of the handful of remaining Summer days. Get outside and get naked, even if it is only in your own backyard!
